A Crayon To Cry On, A Crayon To Carry On

I colored my life, ROYGBIV,

But it seems like BLACK is all I need.

A colorful life’s what I gave,

But emptiness is what I received.

I tried using different and mixed colors

But it seems like black is the only flavor.

I asked life to give me some favor,

But it denied a good one I can savor.

Yellow seems so bright

Red, a bloody fight

Blue seems so right

But it gives a sad good night.

The sun is yellow but all I see is darkness.

Our hearts are red but mine’s black full of loneliness.

The sky is blue but mine’s gray raining with bitterness.

Others see a rainbow but all I see is a color of sadness.

One day, I saw another color on the street of sorrow.

A crayon that seems so bright, shining like there’s no tomorrow.

Out of my curiosity, I step a little bit and tried to follow.

I saw that color eats the darkness, and never seen sadness’ shadow.

I was surprised, I believed my whole life was black.

But then there’s this white, I never thought I’d see on my back.

It healed my broken mind and sewed my heart’s crack.

Lifts me up and now I’m on the highest stack.

A CRAYON TO CRY ON made me weak and never strong.

I thought I’ll live my whole life believing this is where I belong,

But A CRAYON TO CARRY ON finds me and I know now what’s right from wrong.

I, sometimes crying but I learned to carry on, when the saddest song comes along.

In life, there are bitterness and heartaches we can gain,

But life’s also the one which will teach us to rise up again.

There may be heavy storms and some darkest pain,

Remember that there’s always a rainbow after the rain.
