Area 51: The Raid and The Meme

Most of the students who keep up with the trends of memes and facebook, or have even just heard about the Area 51 raid know what it’s all about. But why have people decided to go now after all these years that it’s been around?

The Area 51 meme originated after Matty Roberts organized an event with the title, “Raid Area 51, They Can’t Stop Us All.” So far, 3.5 million people signed up on the Facebook event. Today, on September 20th, 2019, people have already shown up in campers, tents, and even slept in their cars. Roberts already expressed that the whole Facebook Event was a joke and said he would rather the event turn into a music festival for all.

But what even is Area 51?

Area 51 is a military base that’s controlled by the military officials and is kept on a tight lock all day, every day. Apparently, according to conspiracy theorists, there might be some alien inhabitants at the base, along with other interstellar beings. But who knows! Maybe they’re right, maybe there are aliens or space weapons. I guess we’ll find out soon!
