Phantom of the Opera in NYC
February 25, 2018
Phantom of the Opera is a story about a man who never thought he could be loved or appreciated as a person rather than a monster, he ‘haunts’ the theater and falls in love with Christine Daaé. The Phantom doesn’t know what to do in stressful situations because he was only taught from mockery and fear, he hypnotizes Christine to do what he thinks he wants. All he longs for is what he believes he can’t have, which is love.
The 26th of January was the 30th anniversary of Phantom of The Opera, I went to see this in New York live on Broadway. The Phantom, played by Peter Jöback, and Christine, played by Ali Ewoldt, gave a sense of reality in the “play” world, they brought this horror/love story to life with their talents and dedication to the people and show itself. They did a beautiful job of portraying the chandelier going back in time and falling! The feeling in the room was calm but creepy, sad but beautiful.
This show was the highlight of my New York trip!
