This is the third in a series of articles offering student perspectives on how to improve our school.

I think the students and staff would benefit from a test and homework schedule. This would be a tentative day for each subject to assign larger assignments and what days to have quizzes and tests that students need to study for.

Obviously, this would work great for students because it would allow for a balance in homework and give them time to focus on fewer assignments at the same time, which would mean they’d have a better opportunity at a good grade. Teachers would also gain from this as they would have students learning more from their assigned homework and I can imagine grade averages would rise.

From my personal experience, having three tests on the same day and a homework assignment is too much work to be able to do well on all three assessments; it enables the homework assignment to become a lesser priority as tests account for more of a grade.

Students are encouraged to do more than school- we have many kids in sports all throughout the year, many participate in other activities such as band, theatre, and many more. A large part of the WHS has part-time jobs as well.
