Interview with Mr. Thomson
September 27, 2018
The Howl recently had the pleasure of interviewing Mr. Thomson; this is what he had to say.
Q: Are you from Williston? If not, where are you from?
A: Nope, not from Williston. I’m originally from Spearfish, South Dakota but most of my adult life I have lived over in Minneapolis.
Q: What subject do you teach?
A: Science.
Q: How has your time been in the classroom?
A: There are some challenges with General Science but overall it’s been good.
Q: What was your favorite subject when you went to school?
A: Um… it probably was math, I would say.
Q: What made you want to teach?
A: I guess it was something that happened more in my adult life but um, wanting to make an impact more than to just make a paycheck.
Q: When did you start teaching?
A: This year.
Q: If you were teaching at a different school, what would be some differences?
A: Okay I did teach one semester when I was younger but it was actually at my mom’s own private school years back that she started from the ground up and I taught math there.
Q: Where did you go to college?
A: I actually went to two places. One was in my hometown which is by — state university and that’s how I ended up in Minneapolis cause I went to the University of Minnesota. That’s where I graduated from.
Q: Do you have any hobbies?
A: Yea I would say pretty much just weight lifting and swimming. I might become the boys swim coach. So lifting and swimming.
Q: Do you advertise any activities at the moment?
A: Not yet but maybe swimming for the boys.
Q: We’ve added a serious question for all those being interviewed. Does pineapple belong on a pizza?
A: No… no, it does not.
Q: Do you have any hidden talents?
A: I don’t know about hidden but I played piano for about 17 years.
Q: What’s your favorite trend that’s coming back?
A: Oh um… maybe that vinyl is making a come back. Most stuff I don’t want to come back, but that one I’m okay with.
The Howl wants to thank Mr. Thomson for his answers. Remember to welcome him to Williston High School!
