Cross Country is a competitive sport, but it’s not too much to handle for the Williston Girls Cross Country Team. In this sport, teammates encourage each other to push one another for them to reach their goals. At some point in time, each individual builds up confidence and a positive mindset, running or not. On the other side, running has an emotional trigger to competitors, yet they still participate. Besides the fact of running, far more progress has been made at the beginning of the season to the end of this year.

The Williston Girls Cross Country team went to state on October 27, 2018 in Jamestown, ND. As a team, they placed 9th out of 21 other competitive teams. “We were prepared mentally and physically. We all prayed for our teammates and we accomplished our goals”, Saebra Willardson, grade 10, informs.

This year, Eleni Lovegren (9) and Ava Marburger (10) placed in top 20 in the state. “Since 2005, two all-staters haven’t placed in top 20 for Williston until this year”, commented Chase Gregory. That being said, the girls cross country team is improving on their talents. “The girls did amazing and made the highest finish in years. They worked really hard for the season. The girls surprised a lot of teams and are gearing up for a successful future”, Chase Gregory, the assistant cross country coach, proudly stated. Congratulations to the girls cross country team and wishing the team good luck for the future heading towards them!
