When someone is depressed or suicidal, there will usually be noticeable changes in their personality and how they act. Before I go deeper into how they act even though they’re acting different you have to remember that they’re still depressed, even though they may try pushing you away, or they get upset over the littlest things the best thing to do is to be there for them. If you can’t always be there, then try your best but remember to take time for yourself. Some symptoms of depression that are more noticeable are:

  • Loss of interest in hobbies or things that brought them pleasure such as playing guitar
  • Change in sleep schedule, staying up later, having difficulty getting out of bed
  • Withdrawal from social interactions, possibly pushing away friends and family
  • Feelings of hopelessness or being worthless
  • Restlessness or constant tiredness
  • Falling into drug use or drinking/smoking
  • Becoming more agitated and feeling overwhelmed even when faced with minuscule tasks
