WHS Drill Team Recognition

WHS+Drill+Team+Recognition

Emily Ehlert and Kriesha Calderon

The WHS drill team has accomplished so much this season. They showed what they can do from the beginning of the year and has been constantly growing. They brought home many trophies and performed at many games. This team accomplished so many things to be proud of, but they rarely get recognized.

The trophies they receive fill up the trophy cases but get little acknowledgment for their work. They are rarely announced for the things they do but need to follow WHS rules like participating in grade checks. It is difficult to follow school rules since they are not a school affiliated sport. They don’t get help with raising money for the season.  Alone, the team raises $2,000 for each girl. They raise money to go to competitions around the state and each year, alternate nationals (in FL) and regionals (in MN).

Its unfair that the Williston drill team shows WHS spirit and they get little recognition or perks like other  sports. The Williston Wonderettes have so much to show and should get acknowledged more.
