Swim

Daryl Andrada, WHS Reporter

Before you learn how to swim

You’ll experience the feeling of drowning;

Like what I’ve been

When you said, you’ll hold my hand

One time you invited me to dive.

I’m afraid of heights, and depths.

Without seeing you on my sights, I can’t.

Then you dive first,

After you whispered in my ear.

You said to just look at you,

When I’m ready to jump too.

You’ll be there waiting for me,

You’ll catch me when I fall into the sea

You’ll never let me be out of reach.

Seeing you smiling while waiting,

Below me is you above you is me.

My fear suddenly flee.

But droplets of water slowly appeared on my cheeks,

My tears joined me from falling,

When she jumped before me,

And you’re the one who caught her.

While water became deeper and wider.

And I have no one to catch me,

In the middle of my own sea of tears.

Slowly drowning in pain,

That keeps on pulling me on the ground while in vein.

And you didn’t even notice how it hurts,

To be drowned by my own.

But I’m thankful because I learned:

How to swim without you,

How to swim away from you

How to swim after drowning,

By your love, I used to dream.
