Boys’ Cross Country: Season Update

Despite a slow start to the season, the cross country team is steadily improving by the day. Coming off a WDA Championship and 2nd place at state, the boys Cross Country team is looking bright as the season progresses each week.

“As of right now, early in the season, we are progressing nicely as far as improvement and competing at meets. We still have a lot of work to do. The group we have could do something special if we keep working hard and preparing the right way. There are about seven teams that could make a run at the title this year with us being one of those teams. But if we aren’t ready, we could be on the outside (of the top five) looking in when it’s over. I love this group this year and I’m excited to watch them improve,” says head coach Wahlstrom.

The team has just recently lost some big names on the team, such as Micade Shumway, Gavin Jorgenson, and Leif Larsen, and other key runners to the team. Despite this, the team is looking great heading farther into the season with the likes of James Powers, Fynn Krenz, Camden Jasmin, Gunnar Alvarado, and others.

The runners are also excited about the season as well, “As always the season started out slow, but every meet just gets better and better. The team is great and so are the coaches. This season is going to be the next one yet,” said Fynn Krenz in an interview.

The team hopes to once again gain the state title this fall at the end of the year. We wish them the best of luck and to run fast!
