A group of WHS seniors took the Close-Up trip to Washington D.C. last week. The students left on March 17th, and got back on March 24th.

All seniors participating raised money and attended meetings regarding the trip and fundraising. The seniors are given this opportunity to learn more about our world and country’s history, and also get a week of fun and exploring with their friends and classmates. While in D.C, the seniors were able to meet students from different schools, and even a few from different states.

The students who attended Close-Up got to see the White House and the Capital Building in person, visited the Lincoln Memorial, WW2 Memorial, the National Mall, and the Holocaust Museum. The seniors also went to Chinatown, became more educated on homelessness, saw an NBA game, visited the Arlington National Cemetery and even had the opportunity to witness the Changing of the Guards. The students got to talk to many different representatives from North Dakota, and were able to learn so much about our state. Senior, Sophia Jones, said “My favorite part of the trip was meeting new people, making friends from across the country and getting to know other people’s political point of view. I liked getting to see how politics were different everywhere”.
