The WHS choir had a concert on Monday December 11th. This choir consisted of the prep choir, harmonic choir, treble choir, chorale, jv vocal jazz, and varsity vocal jazz. Choir director Mrs.Rooke put lots of time and preparation into these choir concerts. “I spend about 6-8 weeks preparing students for the concert, as far as teaching them the music… a couple days before the concert we talk through and walk through the logistics of how they will get on the stage and where they stand… so everything goes smoothly and so the kids are as prepared as they can be.” All concerts have a theme, this last concert was santa themed. So each group sang a song that had santa in the title or in the song. Mrs. Rooke said ” We do three songs we try to open with something fast, have a slow lyrical piece in the middle, and end with something up beat.” Mrs.Rooke has been teaching for 19 years. She says ” I love getting to show off my kids because they work so hard and they have so much talent and getting them on the stage so they can do what they love is my favorite part.”
