Creative Writing Prompt– Week One

They didn’t mean to, but in an attempt to build a time traveling machine, your character actually discovered alternate universes – and then accidentally trapped themselves there. Oh, and this alternate universe hasn’t discovered electricity yet.

The year is 2084. Edwin Porter, a self-made scientist and head of the science department at Area 52, is currently undergoing a project consisting of the ability to time-travel. For centuries, the secrets of time-travel have been unknown. That is until this day, the secrets unraveled and became a reality. Porter and his team of scientist were selected by a secret government known as “Sector 7” to complete blueprints from a German scientist, Dr. Weber, that died during World War II  creating his own image of a time machine. Porter and his team set out to begin their completion…

Many months later, after so much research and failed attempts, Porter and His team have had a breakthrough. They have completed Dr. Weber’s unfinished blueprints. In excitement, the team celebrates and reports back to Sector 7 immediately. Sector 7’s head of administration congratulates Porter and the team of scientists, and relieves them of their duty. Feeling resentment, Porter questions on behalf of himself and his team as to why they couldn’t finish the project. The Head of Administration explains, that it is too delicate of a procedure for them to continue the project. Porter then insists that he and his team are very capable of finishing. With a quick conference call, the Head of Administration grants them permission to construct the world’s first time traveling machine.
