WHS introduced a new sports team called Esports. WHS announced on October 3rd  that WHS will be having an Esports team. The pre-season starts October 14th. Practices are every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday after school from 4-6. The schedule for the Esport games haven’t been announced yet.

What is Esports?

Esports officially stands for electronic sports, Esports takes video gaming to another level with organized competitive gameplay between two teams, governed by its own strict set of rules and guidelines. Esports requires teamwork, communication, critical and strategic thinking, creativity, sportsmanship, and leadership. There are multiple tournaments in Esports for multiple games like League of Legends, CS:GO, Rainbow Six Siege, etc…

Facts about Esports:

The first official video game competition on record happened at Stanford University on October 19th, 1972. The biggest prize pool in Esports history was $34.3 million earlier this year, the tournament was held for the video game Dota 2. Esports is the biggest video game competition event all around the world. The youngest player recently to win in an Esports event was a 16 yr old boy named Kyle Giersdorf or also known as Bugha. He won $3.06 million in a Fortnite Tournament.
