A few lucky people in Jazz band received some awards at Jazz Festival, namely Noah Case, Chase Cook, and Steele Johnson. I interviewed Noah about his experience:
Describe your experience at Jazz Fest.
Noah Case: It’s in the University of Mary in Bismarck; we always go down there every year. It’s probably our biggest Jazz, somewhat competitive, concert. We always put in a lot of prep for it and we always make sure to have a large range of solos for all the different sections. I had a solo in the second song (“Diggin’ the Dorian”).
What awards did you receive?
Noah Case: I got the outstanding musicianship award; it’s something they pass out, typically, to soloists.
Anything else you would like to add?
Noah Case: It was fun.
Check out the Jazz Band’s performance under the direction of Mr. Rooke, including Steele and Noah’s solo performances (with special thanks to Aaron Case for sharing his video!)
