WHS Feature Artists in the North Dakota State Student Art Show

James Skinner, Guest Editor

Hey, so there has been some awesome stuff going on in the art department.

Two WHS students were selected to be in the traveling North Dakota State Student Art show this year.  This is a big deal as usually there are over 800 pieces submitted to the show but only 100 are selected for the traveling exhibit.

This year Anthony Flores and Karla Quintana have pieces selected to be in the show. Voting begins on Friday at the Taube Museum’s Facebook.

Anthony got a watercolor piece titled “Peace” in and it is up for selection for people’s choice award!

Karla got three of her art pieces in, 2 charcoal drawings titled “Grace” and “Hands in a Sunflower Field” won traveling awards, and her piece “Flower Girl” won the Northern Visions Award, awarded by Senator John Hoeven.

These pieces, and others, are up in the Taube Museum of Art in Minot till the end of the month, then the selected art pieces travel around the state at different art galleries until next year’s show.  Usually, the show comes to Williston in January.  Check the Taube’s Facebook page for more information and make sure the check the James Memorial Arts Center page here in Williston for information from them!  Remember voting starts on Friday for People’s Choice!
